Still quite young. Takes 30+ minutes for the nose to open up and for the tannins to soften up with some food. The nose features bright fruit, herbs, minerality. A bit of citrus, floral notes, and balsamic notes. Maybe it was the mushrooms I was having with it, but it also has an earthy side. Also a bit of menthol. The palate is a contrast of heaps of acidity yet smooth elegant texture. I still think this needs time. The top Chilean Carignan need at least 4-5 years with its acidic structure or it needs to be paired with a fatty dish. I think this will get better, but the nose is already quite complex. Even though this has the least amount of Carignan out of all the wines, it’s very Chilean Carignan in character.
