Lagavulin 30 Years Casks of Distinction - Rare Single Cask Islay Whisky
This 30 year old Lagavulin Single Malt Whiskey is the Islay Distillery's oldest official single cask sherry bottling. It is part of the Casks of Distinction series, in which selected casks from the Diageo Group make it. The Scotch enjoyed 30 years of barrel aging from 1991 to 2022. It matured in first-fill Pedro Ximénez/Oloroso Seasoned European Oak Butt with cask number 5403. It was bottled at cask strength at 44.3 percent by volume. It convinces with its natural color and does not require chill filtration. Only 318 bottles of this rare rarity are available worldwide.
Tasting: Lagavulin 30 Years 1991/2022 Cask of Distinction 5403 in tasting
Nosing: The single cask whiskey indulges the nose with notes of dark fruits. It continues to smell subtly of peat smoke. A hint of lemons is present.
Tasting: The 30-year-old Lagavulin whiskey settles on the tongue with fresh fruit. It tastes primarily of berries. Bacon and mineral notes penetrate. Strong sweetness and smoky creaminess introduce the finish.
Finish: The finish is long-lasting. The whiskey from cask 5403 says goodbye with a strong finish.
